Dust jacket is lightly discolored and has light soil, with some wear, creasing, and small tears on edges/ corners, most notable on top of spine. Binding has minor corner bumps, discoloration to black cloth, very minor soil and tanning to interior pages. very good in very good jacket.The publication of an Underground cartoonist by a major publishing house, in a hardcover edition no less, was a significant milestone in Crumb's career and in the acceptance of UG comix by the literati. Mainstream recognition came with its own set of problems, however: "When Viking Press published R. Crumb's Head Comix in 1968, they made the mistake of tampering with his artwork, including placing band-aids over a whistling cunt in 'Ultra Super Modernistic Comics.'
