Fascinating collection of captured wine & liquor labels from a Confederate vessel. Arranged on a scrapbook page, United States Navy paymaster Joseph Watson titles the page at center: "Wines Liquors &c. 'Captured' from the Rebel Steamer 'PET.’" Labels include:
1. Riviere Cardrat & Co. Cognac
2. Imperial Cognac Company, Old Brandy
3. Superior Old Pale Sherry. Imported by W. & G. Maples, Liverpool
4. Theodor Ripke, Fine Old Tom
5. St. Julien Supérieur, Bordeaux, 1858.
WITH Newspaper clipping noting "Duels Between the Gunboats and the Rebels" in the Wilmington Blockade. Inscribed at left margin: "Joseph Watson was present at the destruction of these vessels. On board of the U.S.S Montgomery."
