Description
Ancient Near East / Ancient Mediterranean, Amlash culture, Marlik or Cheraghali Teppe, ca. 1200 BCE. A beautiful and unique blackware strainer jug featuring 3 folded feet and a broad body crowned by a petite bowl with 3 straining holes and a tubular spout. Incised, abstract designs adorn the shoulder, while an arched handle rises opposite the spout and another connects spout to shoulder. The intriguing shape of this vessel is vaguely zoomorphic, creating a lively form and a striking silhouette! Size: 6.4" W x 3.8" H (16.3 cm x 9.7 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report will accompany the item upon purchase.

Provenance: private Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA collection, via inheritance; Leota Furlong Agett Persian Pottery collection, acquired in Tehran, Iran in the early 1960s
