Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $2500**

Central Asia, Persia, Gilan, Marlik / Cheragh-Ali Tepe, ca. 4th to 6th century CE. A beautiful and rare terracotta pitcher of magnificent size, intricately adorned with ribbon-like scrolls of clay around the neck and spout, as well as applied and incised decoration. The broad hip of the vessel dramatically narrows to a tubular neck, pinched spout, and arched handle, all sitting upon a discoid foot. Marlik is one of the most famous archaeological sites from this region, a mound or tepe containing a variety of fine objects, some of the nicest from this region and time period - this vessel is in the style of those found at that site. Size: 13.8" Diameter x 18.3" H (35.1 cm x 46.5 cm)
