Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Sican to Lambayeque Transition Period, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. A beautiful silver kero boasting a towering, conical body and a circular, flared rim, all sitting upon a concave base. The hammered sheets were shaped around a mold, their ends soldered together, and then the components joined permanently around the corseted base. Around the rim are 2 stylized simian creatures in repousse with curled tails and playful facial expressions. Scholars posit vessels like this example were used in ceremonial or ritual manners.
