BIOGRAPHY:
From Dearborn, Michigan, Allan Banks is a painter in Classical Realist style of figures, portraits, interiors and garden views. A plein-air artist, he has traveled in Europe as well as the United States for subject matter. In September 1996, Banks was one of a group of six American artists to be invited to work and exhibit with the Union of Russian Artists in Moscow.He studied with Classical Realist Richard Lack for four years and with R.H. Ives Gammell for one year. In 1972 and 1973, he received the Elizabeth T. Greenshields Memorial Fellowship and in 1974, The Stacy Award.Public collections include the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut, The Newark Museum, and the Springville Museum.
