Unusual Antique Chippendale Style Carved Mahogany Armchair

late 19th century, shaped crest rail with relief carved flower and leaf designs, pierced back with bellflower and anthemion, shaped arms with acanthus leaf and berry relief carving terminating in ball and claw knuckles, over upholstered seat, front cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees on ball and claw feet and raised turned pad, rear cabriole legs with raised pad.
40 x 24 x 20 in.
Overall good tight joinery with attractive dark mellow patina.

Condition

Two-inch raised pads are old and likely later to the feet; later upholstery with fading; finish haziness to right arm near stile joint; scuffs to the feet.
