Description
A large antique Japanese enamel over copper serving plate. Early Edo period, 17th century. Footed round dish with elevated rims. The interior of the plate is adorned with a medallion depicting butterflies in blossoming flowers surrounded by floral, foliage, and cloud motifs on the olive green ground made in the Cloisonne technique. The backside is decorated with the same design, and decorated with an image of a flower in the center made in the Cloisonne technique. There is a suspension on the backside. Signs of light damage.
