Description
An antique Japanese, late Meiji Era, covered enamel over copper sugar bowl. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. The sphere form ware is adorned with a pair of curved handles, enameled with polychrome images of butterflies and blossoming flowers surrounded by floral, swirl, and foliate scroll patterns made in the Cloisonne technique. The ground is inlaid with Goldstones. The base is decorated with geometrical and scaly ornaments made in the same technique. Unmarked.
