Description
A German or Swiss hand-and-a-half sword, 1st half of the 16th centuryThe double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section, remnants of etching in the lower third. Symmetrical upper hilt, the quillons curving towards the point with baluster-shaped finials, guard rings and finger rests, the bars also divided into sections. The grip of later date with leather-covered cord winding, the pear pommel chased with spiral fluting. All parts cleaned and pitted, the blade fractured in the middle, with an old repair. Length 124 cm.Condition: III +
