Description
Gorson, Aaron Harry (Lithuanian/American/Western PA, 1872-1933), Nocturne Steel Mill Scene on the Monongahela River, undated, oil on canvas, signed lower left, 27 x 22 inches, in a period painted wood frame 33 x 27.75 inches. Provenance: Purchased from Wunderly Brothers, Pittsburgh, in the early 20th century by the Scott family of Sewickley, PA, then by descent through the Scott/Walker family, with Wunderly tag on the stretcher bar. This painting has been in a single family's collection for at least the last 90 years. It has not been relined, and does not show any signs of restoration or repair.
Condition
In good condition, with mild, age appropriate planar distortion to the canvas; instances of crazing visible at the area of heavy impasto in the center (flames) and above.
