Description
A Philadelphia Chippendale Carved Mahogany Side Chair, Third Quarter 18th Century. The shaped crest rail with carved ears, centered by a single scallop shell, above a fret carved splat with Gothic style tracery flanked by shaped stiles over a trapezoidal seat, raised on cabriole front legs terminating in claw and ball feet, the seat rails with through tenons and pinned into the raked back legs and stump feet.
Dimensions: Height 39in; width 22 1/2in; depth of seat 14 1/2in; seat height 17 1/2in.
Condition
Structurally sound. The glue blocks have been rebuilt and replaced. The back legs have been tipped and spliced. There is a 1.25" of new mahogany to the stump feet. General marks, wear, nicks and surface scratches. The slip seat with minor stains to the upholstery.
