A blue printed earthenware soup tureen and cover, early 19th century
Decorated with the 'Neptune' or 'Apotheosis of Nelson' pattern, Neptune with Britannia astride his chariot drawn by hippocampi, Fame, Victory and putti heralding their journey, the border of Virtues flanking military trophies interspersed with four medallions, 39cm wide (2)

Condition
The base of the tureen is in good condition, save for two minute flat chips to the footrim and another minute glaze flake to one handle. There are two areas of restoration to the rim of the cover, one where the reserve for the ladle is, approximately 5cm x 3cm in size and the second smaller area only affecting the underside of the rim.
