Nelson and Duncan: two Scottish earthenware bowls, circa 1800-1820
Both printed in brown and hand-coloured, one pearlware example attributed to Prestonpans, with two circular naïve portraits titled 'ADMIRAL DUNCAN' and 'ADMIRAL NEILSON [sic]', the reverse with a cockfight entitled 'The thickest hold's too to one [sic]', a dense printed border below the rim also picked out in pratt colours, 16cm diam, the other creamware example with a portrait of 'LORD NELSON' inside the base, the exterior with the 'Pseudo Tobacco Leaf' design picked out in red, yellow and green, 14.5cm diam (2)
