Description
14.00 inch Height X 11.00 inch Width X 8.00 inch Depth
Khandoba- he who wields a Khadaga, and is like Ba (father) to his devotees, is an incarnation of the mighty Shiva revered amongst his bhaktas in Maharashtra and adjoining regions, as the supreme roopa of Mahadeva. In the imagination of the devotees, Khanderaya or Khandarao (king Khandoba) is their divine protector, who rides a white horse and carries a sword, trident, bow, and other attributes, to protect his children in time of need. Though usually represented as a celestial king, Khandoba in this brass statue is presented in a unique manner, dressed as an ascetic, a style which more ideally outlines Shiva's unassuming form. Accompanied by his horse and anionic swaroopa as Shiva Lingam, Khandoba stands in a firm posture, holding a bow and Trishula. Highlighting his role as the supreme guru in Brahma's Srishti, the four Vedas are placed near Khandoba, whose sacred. presence emanates from this animated icon.
