Description
This item is a piece of property owned by the Washington Steamboat Company, exceptionally rare and originating from Washington, D.C. It was featured in an exhibit for the Supreme Court case MORRIS v. UNITED STATES, circa 1879-1899. The case revolved around property rights claims by numerous landowners concerning reclaimed land and dredging near the Potomac River, covering 600 acres west of the Washington Monument, including landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and Potomac Park. Despite the owners' claims, the Supreme Court ruled against them in 1899. It is in overall very good condition, measures 17 3/4" x 13 1/2", and comes with guaranteed authenticity.
