Johann Baptist Homann's map of Virginia, Maryland and Carolina was first published in his "Atlas Novus" in 1714. It was the first map to record the settlement of Germanna on the Rapidan River in Virginia, and was so widely distributed in the eighteenth century that it influened the German migration movement to the Colonies and Virginia in particular.
