Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Apache people, ca. late 1890s to 1900s CE. A sizeable basket, beautifully woven from native plant fibers, likely willow and devils claw, in light and dark brown, the motifs spiral out from a dark circular center. The Apache people have a longstanding basketry tradition, and basket making is among the most celebrated art forms in their culture. They created many types of baskets, including trays, ollas, bowls, and burden baskets, for nearly all aspects of daily life. Size: 13.5" Diameter x 4" H (34.3 cm x 10.2 cm)
