This is a stunning set of porcelain dishware from Royal Copenhagen Denmark, the Flora Danica series. This incredible series of dishware goes back well over a hundred years. The first set of Flora Danica was originally commissioned by the King of Denmark in 1790 for the Empress Catherine the 2nd of Russia. Catherine Passed before the collection could be completed, so the set remained in Denmark. The whole original collection was painstakingly produced over the course of 12 years under the guidance of Johann Christoph Bayer. The iconic floral designs are based upon the famous "Flora Danica" botanical book. Each piece was free hand painted and closely copied from the original Flora Danica copper plate prints. He produced around 1,802 pieces once production had come to a stop. This original set is treasured and lovingly showcased today at the Rosenborg Castle, Christiansborg Castle, and the Amalienborg Castle in Denmark. Today, the Flora Danica set is still one of the most sought-after dinnerware sets in the world. Know for their exceptional quality and craftsmanship, there is only a small group of around twenty people who are trusted to produce these incredible pieces. To this day, they are still handmade and based upon the original illustrations. They are hand carved, hand painted, and hand polished to create truly unique pieces of dishware. Our breathtaking collection contains 78 completely unique pieces, in 66 boxes, each with gorgeous floral illustrations, sculpted details, and wonderful polished shine. The set is listed as follows: 12 Dinner Plates, 12 Rim Soup Plates, 12 Bread and Butter Plates, 12 Salad Plates, 12 Cup and Saucers, 1 Oval Fruit Basket, a 13" Round Dish, and 8" Oval Dish, a 10 3/4" Fruit Basket, a square salad bowl, and a 9" Round Salad Bowl. All pieces have never been used to serve food. They have only been taken out to be photographed. This set was produced between the years of 1992-1999.
