A modernist glass "Pulcino" bird sculpture by Alessandro Pianon for Vetreria Vistosi in Murano, Italy. Produced 1960s. The glass cased body in blue with orange stripe design and applied millefiori eye. Copper feet. A collectable mid-century sculpture by one of the innovators of 20th century Murano glass. Born in Venice, Alessandro Pianon attended the Architecture School in Venice and used his talents to become an architect and designer. He was hired by Vetreria Vistosi in 1956 to design the company logo and ended up designing numerous collections of glass. Pianon's whimsical bird sculptures are iconic and sought-after by collectors.
