A vintage native hand carved disc-shaped flat shell, or possibly animal bone, beaded necklace. Circa late 19th century to early 20th century. The shapes are reminiscent to Arca shell beads, also known as "Hippo Teeth," for the size and resemblance. The beads were most likely hand carved. Similar examples come from Navajo tribes in the Southwest to the Ivory Coast in Africa, but no paperwork was provided to indicate the exact location. Dimensions: 12.5" length x 2.5"d (necklace closed). In exceptionally good vintage condition consistent with age.
