Description
A rare, framed poster of Frank Lloyd Wright's Secretary Chair for the Smithsonian Institute Traveling Exhibition Service 1981-1982. The Secretary Chair is a wonderfully unique and iconic piece made for the S.C. Johnson Administration Building. It was designed in 1936 by Wright and produced by Steelcase Inc. in Grand Rapids. The chair uses a unique mix of materials and achieves a very unique design. A mix painted steel, upholstered fabric seats, and walnut wood arms make for a stunning piece of functional art. This poster is made by David Parker Ltd., designed by Doug Sardo, and Photographed by Jerry L. Thompson in 1981. This poster is in fair vintage condition. It has a fair amount of viable foxing and some discoloration. This piece measures 38.25 in tall, 26.25 in wide, and .75 in deep. The poster measures 23" x 35". Provenance: From the personal collection of designer Ralph Rye - a multi-talented visionary with a career in city planning, architecture, interior design, lighting, and furniture design. Rye has collaborated with some of the finest furniture companies in America including Dunbar, Nessen, Thonet, Jens Risom, and Baker.
