Description
A Jackie Robinson 1956 Topps #30 card. Housed in a plexiglass case, ungraded.
Jackie Robinson, forever remembered for breaking the color barrier as the first black player to play in Major League Baseball since the 1880s, spent nearly a decade with the Brooklyn Dodgers. On Dec. 13, 1956 however, Robinson belonged to the Dodgers’ biggest rivals, The New York Giants for a brief moment. Coming off of another winning season with their sixth National League pennant in Robinson’s 10 years with the club, Robinson was traded to Dodger rivals the Giants in exchange for pitcher Dick Littlefield and $30,000. Within hours, Robinson decided to retire rather than accept the trade.
