Before moving to Milan, Paolo Monti was still that industrial executive who had moved from his native Novara to Venice, where in 1948 he had founded the fotoclub la Gondola. It is during his Venetian period that we date some of the splendid photographs on display here, where we can see the meticulous attention to the black and white print, but also the influence of Otto Steinert's Subjektive Fotografie movement.
