Description
A pair of rare antique Ming Dynasty Martaban jars. The first is a 15th/16th century Chinese ovoid form jar in chestnut brown glaze, showing heavily potted lugs and rope twist bands which border a register of incised lotus designs with faint leaf and floral forms. The second is a 16th/17th century Chinese (or Vietnamese) elongated ovoid jar in mottled blue/green glaze with heavily potted straight rim and shoulder mounted with grooved lugs above a line of raised bosses. Foot unglazed, likey for Filipino markets. Chestnut jar measures 15 1/2" x 12", blue/green jar measures 19 1/4" x 12" *notes - felt base
