Description
A flapper-style dress with a black velvet bodice embellished with silver-tone sequins and with sheer sleeves embellished with black beading and a black and red fringe skirt worn by Raquel Welch in the 1920s-set drama The Wild Party (American International Pictures, 1975). The gown was designed by Ron Talsky, who created all of Welch's costumes for the film.
An early production from the esteemed Merchant-Ivory filmmaking duo, The Wild Party focuses on an event at the home of a fading silent film comedian Jolly Grimm (James Coco) and his mistress Queenie (Welch) that ends in tragedy. Welch wears this costume while singing a rousing rendition of "Singapore Sally" and images of her wearing it were used frequently in the film's promotional materials and on the DVD cover.
Together with two film stills of Welch wearing the costume.
