Collection of Nine Hollow-Cut Silhouettes in Gilt Frames (America, 19th century) Including an unidentified man and woman embossed "Peale's Museum" over a spread-wing eagle, with églomisé mats, sold by Charles Wilson Peale (1741-1827), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a man identified on reverse as Ezekiel Wentworth (1777-1856), York, Maine; a man and woman, signed "DeMors" at bottom; a man and woman, possibly by Moses Chapman (1783-1821), with notes on reverse inscribed "Profile Cut Out by M. Chapman," woman identified as W. P. Shera, Salem, Massachusetts; and an unidentified man and woman in square frames. Largest: 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 in. (13.3 x 13.3 cm.)
