Provenance: A San Antonio, Texas collection

E. Gordon West gained notice in the San Antonio and South Texas area for his skillful watercolor paintings of the Texas Hill Country and other subjects. West studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Louisville, Kentucky, where he earned a B.S. degree in 1955. Upon moving to San Antonio, West became one of the members of that city's "Watercolor Gang" of artists who traveled, painted, and critiqued works together for more than 30 years. Besides West, other "Gang" members included Finis Collins, Clay McGaughy, Ivan McDougal, and Hal Sims.
