Description
A GEORGE II MAHOGANY SIDE TABLE, POSSIBLY IRISH, CIRCA 1750, the top with outward curved corners to the front, the shape echoed in the apron and drawer below which is decorated with a central shell motif, raised on four slender cabriole legs, the two front legs with acanthus decoration at the knee and scrolls to the sides, the two back legs minus the acanthus motifs, all four legs on four toed ball and claw feet.
70cm high x 85cm wide x 56cm deep
Provenance: From a collection of furniture and antiques left to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB ) in 1939 by Evelyn Stannus of Kensington. Items in the collection are believed to have come from Ireland. Since 1939 many objects from the collection have been on loan to the National Trust and this item has been displayed at Lyme Park.
