Description
Superb oil on board by American Impressionist Henry Clapp, original member of the Society of Six. Clapp has depicted a set of log cabins in sweeping brushstrokes loaded with warm beiges, light browns and caramel colors that he painted from the opposite side of a river. Thick impasto of vibrant Autumn yellows, reds, oranges and greens fill the trees that follow the shapes of the light blue mountains in the distance. Signed and dated on lower right: Clapp, 37. Signed on lower right: Clapp, 37.
