Toronto, Ontario. 1860. Salt-glazed stoneware. The business founded by George Michie holds an important position in Toronto's history, having operated in the city for more than a century with different partners over that vast length of time. This jug dates to the period when James Michie and Alexander Fulton were running the business and sports a vibrant Warner/Toronto-made flower. Great character with its squat form and double-stamped capacity mark. Stamped, "Fulton Michie & Co. / 6 King St. West / Toronto CW / 3". 13.75" x 10.25" x 10.25". From the Darryl Silver Collection.
Condition
Tight hairline through the handle at the midpoint along with a small patch of black paint on the underside of the handle.
