Until his premature passing in 1987 at the age of 45, Cecil Youngfox had solidified his position as one of Canada’s foremost Indigenous artists. Recognized for his vibrant and sensitive depictions of native cultural traditions, he left a lasting legacy. Today, his robust and imaginative vision continues to garner respect and interest from collectors worldwide, both in private and public spheres.
Born in 1942 in Blind River, Ontario, to Ojibway and Metis parents, Mr. Youngfox received numerous honors during his lifetime. Notably, he was awarded the Aboriginal Order of Canada in recognition of his efforts to preserve his native heritage.
