Description
Upon returning from Vietnam, John embarked on an artistic journey by enrolling in art courses at the local Junior College. What started as a personal pursuit eventually evolved into both a business and a way of life over the course of forty years.
Raised with a Cherokee father and an English/Irish mother, John, not having grown up on a reservation, turned to art as a means of comprehending, preserving, and paying tribute to his Native Ancestors.
For more than 30 years, John painted in a realistic style, but in 2003, he felt the need for a creative shift. This led him to experiment with color and texture, aiming to infuse a more contemporary look and feel into his work.
Today, a significant portion of John's artistic output is characterized by innovation and experimentation. The transformative element has predominantly been color, seen as a barometer of emotion. The vibrant and bold use of color in his work reflects a passionate approach to painting, all while contributing to an aesthetically appealing result.
