Ca. 400 - 300 BC.
A Greek terracotta figurine, possibly Melpomene, the muse of tragedy. The standing figure wears a long chiton and a tightly-wrapped himation, with her hair pulled back into a chignon and her right hand at her hip. Her left arm probably held a tragic mask suspended to the right. For similar see: Christie's, Live Auction 9796, Antiquities, Lot. 455.
