Oil on canvas by Kazimieras Zoromskis (1913-2004). Signed by artist. There are two notes on the back- one written in pencil in Spanish that appears to state, "Spanish Landscape," and a later note written by the owner, stating that the work is a view of the Vilnius area. Measures approx. 33 1/4" x 31 1/4" OA; 27 1/2" x 25 1/2" SS. During World War II, Zoromski participated in the activities of the Lithuanian Freedom Army. He graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 1942, graduated from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in 1943, and in 1945 studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Zoromski studied and taught at varied locations throughout the world, returning to Lithuania in 1986. He had organized more than 40 individual exhibitions from 1947 through 1993 in Madrid, Bogota, Paris, Vilnius, the United States, and elsewhere from 1947 and posthumous in 2013-2014. Zoromski's works are held by the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, the National M.K. Ciurlionis Art Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Vatican Pinacoteca, and other museums around the world. Artwork has not been removed from frame for inspection.
