Description
1954 Watercolor by Bronius Murinas (1906-1986), Lithuanian. Signed by artist. Measures approx. 27 3/4" x 33 1/2" OA; 13 1/2" x 19 1/4" SS. Murinas studied in Linkuva gymnasium (1923-1928) in the painting studio of Kaunas Art School. He was a member of Lithuanian Artists' Association (1930), American Artists' Association and American-Lithuanian Artists' Association (1950), as well as its Chairman of the Board. Prior to retirement he worked for the Chicago Railways Company (painter, then - a draftsman, an interpreter). Murinas's works are characterised by post-impressionist style. Bronius Murinas was one of the best water-colourists, drawing mostly landscapes and still lifes. He has always been sensitive to the impressions, excited by the nature. He had participated in exhibitions since 1936 and held more than 20 solo exhibitions - in Klaipeda, Rottweiler, Chicago M. K. Ciurlionis Gallery, Detroit, Boston, and Brooklyn. He exhibited work in collective exhibitions in the USA and Europe. Artwork has not been removed from frame for inspection.
