Description
Harbor Scene, watercolor on paper, 11 1/2 x 14 1/2, signed lower left: Lucille Richhart, Richhart lived in Fort Worth for most of her life and studied fine art at Texas Christian University, though she made a career of traveling around the world. As a freelance writer, Richhart contributed travel articles to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for over 20 years. She was a skilled watercolorist and printmaker, working primarily in etching, and her subject matter remained inspired by her exposure to different parts of the world. Later in her career, she focused mainly on Native American and Southwest landscape and imagery, and exhibited her work regularly in shows throughout Texas. Richhart is also remembered in Fort Worth for founding the city’s first Girl Scout troop in 1925. She passed away in her home, in the city she loved, and is buried there.
