Description
A Flower I, pastel on paper, 9 5/8 x 8 3/8, signed lower right: Marilyn Miller Kincheloe, Kincheloe created naturalistic and detailed depictions of plant. Her floral images maintain an emphasis on the form of the bloom, set against nondescript backgrounds to reinforce the colors and shapes of the flower. While her body of work also includes landscapes and still life scenes, Kincheloe continues to be celebrated for her charming floral pastel work. Her education includes studies at Shreveport’s Centenary College, and a degree from Texas Women’s University. She also studied under Frank Klepper and Alexandre Hogue at the Klepper Art School, and went on to train at the New York School of Interior Decoration. Among her many accomplishments, Kincheloe was one of only six Texas artists to exhibit work in the Graphic Arts Exhibition at the 1939 New York World’s Fair.
