This discoidal stone or commonly referred to as a chunkey (chungke) stone is 4 in. in diameter and 2 in. thick. These stones are found associated with the Mississippian culture. The stones were rolled on a flat surface and on-lookers tried to hit it with arrows or spears. This was considered a game that involved betting as well. From the Bracken collection. Includes a COA by Thomas E. Shenk or "Bannerstone Tom". This particular style is recognized as the Jersey Bluff style originally found at he Nutwood site in Hersey County, Illinois and the surrounding community. From the Bracken collection.
