Description
An interesting piece of aircraft wreckage that was recovered from a German aircraft wreck during World War II. The consigner states that this aircraft fragment was once part of a Messerschmitt. This piece seems to be a door to an outer storage compartment on a fuselage, given the "Balkankreuz” and hinges on the left side. Constructed of aluminum, the fragment measures approximately 28 - 1/2" x 19 - 1/2" and features remnants of gray paint which has worn away in some areas, exposing the aluminum. There are 2 bullet holes on the lower portion and the right edge is crudely cut, most likely done by a savvy GI. A nice patina is exhibited throughout on both sides with scattered blemishes. CONDITION: Good.
