Description
Only an approximated 3,000 were produced by James Duckworth of Springfield, Massachusetts circa 1891-1892. Pistol features a turn off octagon to round barrel finished in nickel with a 7-shot turret cylinder. Double action operated by squeezing the plunder, which can be locked back with a manual safety. Removable left side plate marked "THE PROTECTOR / MINN. FIRE ARMS CO." with an uncheckered hard rubber donut pad and 2 areas of knurling around the rim. Right side marked with patent information and fitted with a matching hard rubber pad. Matching serial numbers observed on frame, cylinder, and side plate. Housed in a hardwood case. Inside of case lid has a "KM #33" collection number. CONDITION: Excellent for its age. Nearly all of the factory nickel is retained with some losses in the knurling and scattered flakes. Hard rubber pads have some surface scratching. Good, bright bore. Action out of time. Case is very good with scattered marks and a small areas of loss on the right side. Lid relined. A very nice example of a very scarce 19th-century concealable pistol.
