Full octagon Damascus barrel with swamped muzzle and hooked patent breech. Multi-groove rifling. Gold front bead sight and notched iron rear sight. The barrel is decorated with gold overlays including panoplies of arms on top three flats at breech. There is a large panel of Farsi between the breech and rear sight. Left of rear sight is "LONDON" in gold. Gold decoration at muzzle and on both sides of both sights. Gold-lined touchhole and pan interior. Lock features a waterproof fan and a fence behind the pan, center marked "MANTON". Engraved iron buttplate tang and triggerguard. Silver escutcheons around barrel keys on both sides. Walnut half stock with checkered wrist and horn endcap. Complete with a later horn-tipped wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel shows some wear and scattered pitting. rear sight has been filed on top, front and back to remove pitting. Some light wear to gold decoration. Lock excellent as refinished, Very tight mechanism but no half-cock. Buttplate has been refinished and now shows some losses and fading to finish. Trigger guard has a grey patina with light pitting throughout. Stock has been refinished and rechecked. Rifling is deep.
