Description
This sword is shown as plate E-11 in Warren Moore's "Weapons of the American Revolution". Slightly curved Spanish-style blade with three narrow partial fullers on both sides. Two original red wool washers between blade and guard. Four-slot guard with additional teardrop piercing extending into knucklebow. Octagonal cherry grip tapered at both ends, plain brass ferrule at base. Ball shaped pommel with double-lines engraved in center and an integral capstan. CONDITION: Blade retains a grey patina with areas of heavy patina, some "battle" nicks to edge. Hilt retains a very dark unpolished mustard patina. Blade is tight to hilt. Grip retains a pleasing patina. A very nice American sword. PROVENANCE: Ex. Warren Moore Collection. Blade Length: 34 - 1/4" Overall Length: 40"
