Description
JAMES BOND: LIVE AND LET DIE
Six Sheet (77" x 78")
Very Fine Folded; Artwork by Robert McGinnis
United Artists, 1973
The six sheet has some tanning along the folds and some separation on the right side.
After Sean Connery retired from the role of superspy James Bond, the torch passed to Roger Moore, an actor known for his portrayal of wealthy adventurer and Robin Hood-like crusader Simon Templar in TV's The Saint, based on the novels by Leslie Charteris. Unlike Connery's brutal, gritty portrayal of 007, Moore's Bond was more dashing and urbane, with a wicked sense of humor to go with his license to kill. Some saw the change as catastrophic, fearing that the Bond franchise was veering into parody compared to the Connery classics. Still, for many, Moore defined the character through seven feature films between 1973 and 1985. The first of Moore's outings was the film, Live and Let Die (1973), set against a voodoo background in New Orleans and a distinctly urban environment in Harlem, and drawing more than a bit of inspiration from the spate of Blaxploitation films that were popular in the early 1970s.
