Condition
This photograph, trimmed to the image and mounted, is in generally excellent condition. When viewed in raking light, a few tiny deposits of original retouching are visible. The mount is soiled and darkened. The left and lower edges of the mount are stained. There is a one-inch diagonal tear at the upper mount edge that has been repaired with tape on the reverse.
The reverse of the mount is soiled and age-darkened. The following is written in ink, possibly in the hand of the photographer: ''Study of Fresco' / Alexander D. Grinberg / Moscow, Neglinny 17 log 27 / Brom toned'; and 'N4' [crossed out in red pencil]. '307' is written in red pencil, and '[?]-184' is in pencil, both in unidentified hands. The Borodulin's Collection stamp is in purple ink. There is a remnant of a label with a navy blue border. Sold framed.
