Description: An expansive oil on canvas picture from the late 1700s featuring Major General Alexander Munro, the Laird of Novar and a member of the Munro Baronets. A finely crafted and in excellent condition portrait of Munro as a young lieutenant in the East India Company and later the British Royal Navy. Reportedly, a shark consumed him when he passed away in Bombay. Original antique gilt-framed house with plaque. Measurements: approximately 37.5" x 32" framed.
