Jean-Baptiste Leprince (1688-1750) was a French painter known for his history paintings, portraits, and genre scenes. He was born in Paris in 1688 and studied with the painter Charles de La Fosse. In 1714, he traveled to Italy, where he studied the works of the Old Masters. He returned to France in 1720 and began to exhibit his work at the Salon. He was elected a member of the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture in 1728.

Leprince's paintings are characterized by their strong sense of light and color. He often used a palette of bright, saturated colors, and his paintings are often filled with light. His history paintings are often set in classical or biblical times, and they often depict scenes of violence or conflict. His portraits are characterized by their psychological insight and their ability to capture the likeness of his subjects. His genre scenes are often humorous or satirical, and they often depict scenes of everyday life.

Leprince was a prolific painter, and he produced a large body of work. His paintings are held in collections around the world, including the Louvre in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
