"This piece of work was completed in 2013. It has been a central piece to many different paintings that I have completed over the years and was created using acrylic on plywood. The reason I chose to paint this on a cheaper material was to highlight the destructive nature of humans and our ability to create and repurpose unwanted objects into something beautiful. I love this piece and for me, it was really created to showcase how nature can co-exist with heavy industry whilst maintaining beauty. As the tree gives life, industry gives meaning and direction, guided in a twisted symbiotic relationship. The colour palette used was indicative of the passage of time and changing of emotion as within my hometown, we have all grown to love the steel works that pollutes and disfigures the beautiful natural landscape."
