Palazuelo studied art at Oxford University, England before the start of the Spanish Civil War compelled him to return to his family in Madrid. After World War II, his colorful abstractions caught the attention of critics and collectors, which resulted in the artist being awarded a travel scholarship by the French Insititute. This afforded him the opportunity to move to Paris, where he was soon represented by the Maeght Gallery; his relationship with the influential art gallery was to last for decades. Palazuelo was the 1999 recipient of the prestigious Premio Nacional de Artes Plasticas, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport.

Not examined out of frame. Buckling to paper. Water stain along lower right edge. Frame with marks, nicks and abrasions.
