early 18th century
brass-mounted ebonized case, 8-day double fusee verge escapement movement which strikes a single bell at the top and bottom of the hours, every three hours the selected song is played, one of six musical tunes is played on demand with a pull cord, dial marked "Richd. Parsons, London," the movement marked "No. 54 Goswell Sreet"
21 x 13 x 9 inches

Richard Parsons was admitted to the Clockmakers Company in 1690 and was active as a clockmaker in London at 54 Goswell St., 1690-1730. See "Britten's Old Clocks and Watches and Their Makers" by C.H. Bailey.

Condition

Finish has been touched up, pineapple finials replaced, dial has been repainted, functions properly (15-minute test).
